Attractions In And Around Lephalale

Lephalale, formally Ellisras, is known as a peaceful town in the heart of the bushveld. It is situated at the spur of the Waterberg Mountains in the north-west of the Limpopo Province, South Africa. The town lies approximately 60km from the Botswana border on the Mogol River, a tributary of the Limpopo River. Well tarred roads, a tarred airstrip and a daily bus service to Pretoria make this town easily accessible.

Abuelita Hostel is ideally located just outside town, away from the bustle but still close enough to enjoy its amenities. Lephalale offers infrastructure and facilities while given the opportunity to ex-perience the African wilderness.

The Waterberg is a low risk malaria area and has a vibrant tourism industry with hunters, tourists and holidaymakers that visit annually. Ellisras is the last stopover for safaris en-route to Botswana and the Okavango Delta.

The local economy is dominated by the coal mine and power station and is currently experiencing growth driven by mining expansion, a new coal mine Thabametsi and the construction of the Medupi power station.
